This Lekue silicone bowl was made for air popping popcorn in the microwave. No oil needed! Except I still want to toss my popcorn with some butter. Honey butter with a sprinkle of salt to be exact. Hello, best flavor ever! However, this time I wanted to try something new so off I went to work in the kitchen.
If soy butter noodles are a thing, I could make soy butter popcorn a thing right? This is kind of an acquired taste (hubby did not like it). I like butter and I like soy sauce but you have to use the soy sparingly or it becomes overpowering. I would suggest popping your usual amount of popcorn, melt butter and soy sauce together in the ratio of 2:1. Then spoon the mixture in a teaspoon at a time to mix until your desired level of flavor.
Matcha Honey Caramel
I love matcha everything and was looking for ways to use my matcha in recipes rather than just drinking. Pop your popcorn as usual. I used only honey which is much sweeter than sugar, so you will need very little of it. If you mix honey with sugar you could probably get away with coating more of the popcorn.
Melt about 1/4 cup of honey and 1 TBS matcha together in a pot and once it starts boiling, throw in a sprinkle of baking soda. It will bubble some more and you can turn off the heat at this point. Fold the caramel into your popcorn and throw the popcorn into the oven on a silicone mat at 250 degrees F. Cook for about 45 minutes, stirring one or two times throughout and let it cool off before eating! It will dry up and get crunchy.
Happy experimenting guys!
