What else can you eat at a steakhouse besides steak? Plenty! Through the Blog and Tweet Boston group, I was given a chance to sample Del Frisco’s steaks and signature items. Since I’m sure many people already know Del Frisco’s for their steaks, I’ve chosen to highlight some of their non-steak items for those who are not steak fiends but would like to know if it’s worth going to with their steak-loving friends.

delfriscos01The VIP

I’m not much of a drinker, but I do love a fruity cocktail once in awhile. We started off with this Svedka Clementine Vodka infused with fresh Hawaiian pineapple. It was light and refreshing, and you all know I love my pineapple juice.

We sat in the Harbor Room, which had views of the water and is a private room good for larger groups and gatherings.

delfriscos07Ahi Tuna Tartare

Their Ahi Tuna Tartare appetizer was like a mini meal by itself. With citrus, capers, kalamata olive spread & crostinis.

delfriscos09Crab cake

My fave appetizer of the day – their crab cake! It was the size of my fist, if not larger, and loaded with delicate crab meat on top of a cajun lobster sauce. My photo makes it looks like a mac and cheese ball, (which I imagine would also be amazing) hah…

delfriscos12More tuna tartare for the entire table.

delfriscos15Seared Ahi Tuna  Salad

A great option for non-steak-lovers is this Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with Napa Cabbage, Arugula, Mango, Chilled Noodles, Toasted Almonds, Tomato, Avocado & Ginger-Sesame Dressing.

delfriscos16Prime Shaved Steak

Ok, I said I wasn’t going to be highlighting steaks, but this is a sandwich. With steak in it. And yummy au jus that made it even better, bringing out all the savory meaty flavors out.

delfriscos19Sole Francese

The Sole with Lump Crabmeat, Baby Arugula, & Lemon Chive Beurre Blanc was just okay. Nothing spectacular, but it wasn’t terrible either. I wish there was more of a ‘crust’.

delfriscos20Onion Rings

Who doesn’t love a giant towering stack of beer battered thick cut onion rings? At this point I was already too full to finish even one. We had already sampled a bunch of their steaks in between all the above dishes!

delfriscos226 layer lemon cake

delfriscos236 layer lemon cake

Last but not least, we had their 6 layer lemon cake made in house everyday. It looked like a quarter of a whole cake on one plate, which easily divided into 4 or 5 slices. While moist and tender, it wasn’t something I would crave. I’d be interested in tasting what other desserts they offer though.

I would say Del Frisco’s is a good choice for steak lovers and non-steak lovers alike as there is a solid variety of options. Who said you can’t have the best of both worlds? ;)

My Picks: Crab Cake appetizer, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, Onion Rings.

  1. Your pictures are amazing! I was blown away with the shear beauty and amazing resolution. I wasn’t able to introduce myself at the blogger brunch but, I am a local blogger over at Sound of Charm (www.soundofcharm.blogspot.com) hopefully we will meet at another get together :)

    • Thanks Kate! It was nice meeting you too. I’m still amazed that you post almost everyday! I’ll definitely be following you for Boston deals. ;)

  2. Great review!
I was blown away by how tasty their non-steak options were too. I’d recommend any of the fish items (except the sole). The tuna salad and crab cake were tied for my favorite.
